Tax Season and Identity Theft: What You Need to Know

Unless you get an extension, taxes are due on April 18th. April 15th is usually the date people think of, but this year April 15th is on a Saturday. Taxes aren’t due on a weekend so normally this would make Monday April 17th tax day, but Monday is a Federal holiday. That brings us to Tuesday April 18th as tax day.

Tax season usually brings a rise in identity theft cases and scams. Be careful with your personal information and be skeptical of phonecalls, letters, or emails from people claiming to be the IRS or other organizations.
